Synthetic Pleasures is an immersive audiovisual performance that explores the instability of digital identity, media saturation, and perception in hyper-mediated environments.
The work was the first real-time audiovisual performance presented at Hope Alkazar—a flagship venue on Istanbul’s İstiklal Street that has previously hosted major international figures such as Refik Anadol and Memo Akten. This milestone situates the piece within a broader discourse on generative media and experiential technology.


Visually, the performance uses real-time generative systems developed with Stable Diffusion, translating live inputs via MIDI controllers into shifting, AI-driven compositions. Fragmented advertisements, glitching avatars, and collapsing typographic systems unfold dynamically across a cybernetic landscape—highlighting tensions between control, chaos, and interpretation.
Sonically, the performance integrates experimental techno, IDM, and breakbeat through live coding in Sonic Pi and layered sequencing in Ableton. Spatialized sound and processed textures mirror the visual volatility, creating a cohesive sensory field that continually collapses and re-forms in real time.
The narrative moves from digital silence to overwhelming complexity, before dissolving into abstraction—leaving space for reflection on the fragmented, algorithmically mediated nature of contemporary perception.
